Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2016 Verified Purchase When you read alot of books, you can tell a good author from a bad one. This book was just NOT written very well. There were SO many sentences that made me say "What? What does that mean? " or "huh? That doesnt make any sense. " It was so choppy and just didnt flow very well. THere were so many times I almost quit reading but I forced my way through the book because atleast the story line was alittle interesting and different. But thats the only positive. If it was written better, it could have been stellar. This is a series, but I'm not even going to bother with the second book because I can't stand the writing. ALSO, if you are an avid "romance"/"love story" addict like me, this book is NOT romantic. The hero is not appealing, his personality sucks, its about sex, not love- you know how some love stories can make your heart start beating fast because you can feel yourself being romanced as well??

This Hyde is done in such a unique and fresh, that it made me eager to keep reading. The book starts with a bang with the two leads in bed and one not knowing how they got there. I loved both Mitch and Eden. Mitch and Eden both have their own Hydes only Mitch is aware of this and Eden has no idea. The book really is about Eden finding out abut herself, and Mitch realising he doesn't know everything he thinks he does, as they are both being manipulated by "the clinic", who monitors Hydes. Mitch is such a jerk, but you have to love that about him, he's rude and offensive to everyone around him, but this is a good thing, as he makes you laugh. He is also likable, and this is probably helped by the fact that the story is told in the third person and switching between Eden and Mitch. If it was just from Eden, you would probably hate him. Eden on the other hand it super sweet, maybe too much at times. But then there is also something nice about that. There is some serious chemistry between Eden and Mitch, and those of you who like the heavier love scenes will enjoy the ones between these two, as the book goes on.

My only two criticisms with this book would be I found it hard to understand how Mitch did not know about being lied to, and the ending, or rather lack there off. Nothing was really wrapped up in this book, and that annoyed me. I would have liked something more without having to wait for the next one. But I will get the next one, so it obviously worked. One of my favourite quotes 'Relationships are complicated'. "not all of them. For instance, our relationship is very simple. You are annoying; I am annoyed. See? Totally uncomplicated. " "Each time we're together I'm shocked at how much easier it's getting to ignore your rudeness". Will I read it again? Yes Would I recommend it? Yes Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2017 Verified Purchase This book was really good overall, but there were still some things I liked and some things I disliked. I'll start with the dislikes: 1) I was annoyed by the little sections of conversation between Jolie and The Clinic; I don't like vague mysteriousness and felt like, either tell the reader what's going on or don't.

Rating: 4 Stars Original Review @ Metaphors and Moonlight (link in profile) Top reviews from other countries 5. 0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, fresh, exciting, genre-bending. (yes i liked it! ) Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 25, 2015 Verified Purchase This is a rare and wonderful book. As an unashamed bookslut I will read pretty much ANYTHING, and it's rare that I read a book which doesn't feel in some way like a re-hashing of something else. 'Hyde' is dark, snarky, violent, mysterious, tense and funny, with an unusual and unexpected love story at its heart. Mitch and Eden could have been yet another cookie-cutter alpha/bad boy and ingenue couple, but the strengths and vulnerabilities of each make them relatable and empathetic despite the urban fantasy nature of the story. There's gasp aloud moments aplenty in this book, and although it ends on a cliffhanger (which would normally have me incandescent with rage), the actual story arc of book one IS complete, and the teasers into book two are wholly unexpected and well done.

Lauren Stewart's Hyde books in order

NOPE. not this book. Just didnt do it for me. Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2016 Verified Purchase I have nothing against serial books. However, it is generally accepted each part of the trilogy, seven, or thirty six serial sets should contain a complete story within each part. Modern authors should commit to memory this standard of old school SF and fantasy genres. Frankly, if those rules had been followed, I would have cheerfully paid up for the next installment, since there were some neat twists to the whole tired Hyde thing. Unfortunately, all that happened in this book was a great deal of nothing except for a ton of sex and killing off characters the author apparently grew tired of having around, ending in a cliffhanger which demanded ransom payment to learn a free more tidbits. If you are okay with this, might be a good author to check out. Otherwise be advised this is probably a waste of time. Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2012 Verified Purchase I loved the story of Jekyll and Hyde, so any spin on that is great, as you get to see good and bad in one.

Hyde lauren stewart suicide

4) This wasn't truly a retelling of Jekyll & Hyde, but it was still a creative use of the original as inspiration. 5) This moment: She took the condoms out of his hand and said, "I had to put one of these on a banana at a party once. It was a dare. " "Dare you to try it again. " "And if I can do it? " "Anything you want. " She smiled. "And if I can't? " "Anything you want. In addition to a how-to lesson. " 5 cont. ) I loved that quote because, number one, yay for safe sex! And number two, he didn't make her feel bad in any way about her lack of experience, and he even wanted to teach her how to use a condom if she didn't know how so that she could always practice safe sex, even if she wasn't with him, and not have to rely on men. It just struck me as a really great moment. To be honest, I'm not planning on continuing with the series because I just never truly connected to the characters and don't feel invested, but I think it was a "me" thing, not the book. Overall, this was definitely a good book and one that I would recommend to paranormal romance readers!
